Frequently Asked Questions
How do I activate the PowerHeal® bandage microcell batteries?
How do I choose the right bandage?
When should I choose PowerHeal® bandages with adhesive versus no adhesive?
Choose the Bioelectric Bandage Kit With Adhesive if you want an all-in-one solution. It includes a bioelectric bandage with a water-resistant adhesive outer layer, plus Energel® activating wound hydrogel. It is ideal for most skin types, comes in multiple sizes to fit a wide range of wounds, and is water-resistant, durable for daily use, and easy to apply.
Choose the Bioelectric Bandage Kit With No Adhesive if you have sensitive skin or need more flexibility. The single-layer bioelectric bandage can be cut into smaller pieces or combined with additional bandages, making it a good option for wounds with challenging shapes, sizes, or locations. It may also be a better choice for larger wounds that cannot be accommodated by the adhesive kit. Please note that you will need to provide your own adhesive covering or gauze wrap to keep the bandage in place. This kit includes a bioelectric bandage, plus Energel activating wound hydrogel.
Both options are suitable for cuts, scrapes, abrasions, blisters, minor burns, and other superficial wounds.
When selecting a bandage size, make sure the bioelectric pad extends 0.5 to 1 inch beyond the edges of your wound. Visit our Product Comparison page for additional assistance.
When should I change PowerHeal® bandages?
Bandages should be changed based on the condition of your wound and the surrounding skin. For example, if your wound has a lot of drainage, you may need to change the bandage once or twice a day, especially in the early stages of healing. As your wound heals, drainage typically decreases. Once drainage slows or stops, you may be able to change the bandage every 2 to 3 days.
A PowerHeal bandage may remain in place for up to 7 days before it needs to be changed. Total continuous use should not exceed 28 days. If treatment is required beyond this period, consult a physician.
How do I apply PowerHeal® bandages with adhesive?
How do I apply PowerHeal® bandages with no adhesive?
Place the dotted side of the PowerHeal bandage directly against the wound.
If your wound is draining, place an absorbent gauze pad over the PowerHeal bandage.
Secure the bandage using a method that works best for you, such as a self-adherent wrap, gauze wrap or roll, or gentle medical tape.
Some coverings do not prevent moisture loss like an adhesive covering. Monitor your wound and bandage to help ensure the area remains moist.
